Home – what is a home? What does “home” mean to your practice? As the health and social needs of individuals, families, and communities evolve, the traditional notion of “home” in home care needs to be responsive to contemporary urban and rural health conditions.
Do you work in home health care nursing? Do you support or manage, nurses who work in home care nursing environments? Do you look for competencies to support home care nursing practice? Do you get excited about quality home health care practice? If yes, the CHNC Standards & Competencies Committee and SE Health Research Team would like your input on the Home Health Nursing Competencies revisions. Underpinned by valuing home health nurses as partners in the co-development of updated competencies, CHNC invites you to a full day workshop.
We want to leverage your home health nursing experience, intuition, and commitment to client/family/community-centred care to validate and inform the next version of the Home Health Nursing Competencies. The CHNC Home Health Competencies version 1 (2010) provided a tool for individuals and organizations to enhance home health quality practice. CHNC in collaboration with SE Health have been working with home care nurses across the country to update the 2010 Competencies. The CHNC Standards and Competencies committee and the Home Health Nursing Competencies project team are providing a hybrid session (details TBD) to share the work of the competency revision and ask for your help in developing the final product and knowledge exchange products.
Consultation Objectives:
1) To learn about the progress to date on the revision of the CHNC Home Health Nursing Competencies (HHNC)v1 (2010)
2) To provide validation and feedback on the draft HHNC product with categories of competency statements.
3) To provide your ideas and strategies for how home care nurses can collectively promote the use and application of HHN Competencies.
4) To engage in discussion on tools and strategies to support uptake and sharing of the final product.
